The publication of each new edition of the Global Education Monitoring Report is the occasion for taking stock about progress made – or not made – and generating renewed interest for moving the new education goal in the Sustainable Development Agenda forward. Official launchings and related events are held in different parts of the world throughout the year. They draw attention to important issues and help to get the message across to different audiences.

The 2016 Report,\ will establish a new monitoring framework for education post-2015, and examine key financing and governance challenges for the post-2015 era.  The Report will also focus on ‘Education for people and planet: Creating sustainable futures for all’, examining the complex interrelationships and links between education and key development sectors. It will determine which education strategies, policies and programmes are most effectively linked to the economic, social, environmental and political priorities of the new sustainable development agenda.

XVI World Congress of Comparative Education Societies

The WCCES serves as an umbrella organization comprised of comparative education societies and UNESCO. The theme of the 2016 Congress is ‘Dialectics of Education: Comparative Perspectives’. The Congress will offer the opportunity for presentations of cutting-edge research to address the theoretical, empirical, and practical problems in education. The concerns and interests of various stakeholders (educational researchers, policymakers, teachers, students, parents, and others) will offer dynamic and in-depth discussion on contemporary educational issues to help interested parties grasp diverse sides of often very complex issues. Presentations concerning the dialectics of education at different stages or in various settings (e.g. preschool, primary, secondary, higher, adult, inclusive, special, vocational, teacher, or distance) are especially welcomed. These may include the dialectics of education in terms of educational finance, leadership and management, policy and planning, and others; from different disciplinary and theoretical perspectives, such as philosophy, sociology, culture, feminism, phenomenology, ethnography, semiology or any other frameworks of interest. In terms of methodology, research might adhere to qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods frameworks. Finally, the Congress encourages research that emphasizes particular countries or regions—from local to global—and the adoption of an international or comparative approach or set of approaches.

Presentatie GEM Report 2016

0
0

Ed Leadership International Roundtables create conversations that lead to change. It serves as a catalyst for change at the same time as provides an umbrella for the sharing of research and good work in education everywhere

Education is the most complex issue of our times and it requires great deliberation. It is a multi-year effort involving all concerned about the future of education and thereby our collective future. We invite you to join hands in any capacity and become a part of this great mission.

Education We Want believes that education in the 21st century needs to be radically different from the 19th century models of education we have become accustomed to. In this new model, universal values are embedded in the framework of education itself. Becoming “good” or virtuous is given more importance than becoming “smart” or competent, though both are considered important aspects of education in this new century.
